Revamped Side Porch and Stairs
Customer wanted to replace his rotting wood deck boards and railings with Trex composite decking/fascia and Fortress Aluminum railing.
Day 1: Demoed the old decking/railing and started adding more joists and blocking where needed. The stair stringers weren’t sitting on anything solid, so we added concrete blocks under each stringer to support them correctly.
Day 2: Finished up all the blocking/support, and added additional support to the stairs on the other side by sistering up 2x12 stringers onto the outside of the existing 2x10 stringers.
Day 3: Installed Trex Spiced Rum composite fascia around the perimeter of the porch and on the stairs as risers. Installed color matched plugs into all screw holes removing exposed holes.
Day 4: Installed Trex Spiced Rum composite decking on the stairs and porch. Picture framed the decking on the porch and stair landing for a clean, fluid look.
Day 5: Installed Fortress Fe26 Welded Aluminum Railing on both the porch and stairs. This railing is very clean-looking and sturdy. By adding blocking underneath and picture framing our decking, we are able to mount the railings on our perimeter decking board for a nice, clean look.
